1. Our Commitment
We want everyone who visits the EMPOWER Programme website to feel welcome and be able to access our content and services, regardless of their abilities or the technology they use. We are working towards meeting the requirements of the European Accessibility Act and aligning with WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards.
2. Accessibility Status
Following an initial review, this website is partially compliant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. This means that while most of the content is accessible, there are some areas that still need improvement.
3. Areas for Improvement
We are aware of the following issues and are actively working to address them:
- Some images and infographics do not have descriptive alternative text.
- Certain PDF documents are not fully tagged for accessibility.
- Some text is presented as images, which may not be readable by screen readers.
- Some videos may not have captions or audio descriptions.
- Inconsistent heading structures in certain pages.
We plan to resolve these issues and move to full compliance by December 2025.
4. Compatibility
Our website is designed to work on modern browsers and devices. It should function correctly with:
- The latest versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge.
- Common assistive technologies such as screen readers and magnifiers.
Older browsers or outdated assistive technologies may not display the website correctly.
5. Testing and Monitoring
We check our website’s accessibility through:
- Automated testing tools (e.g., axe DevTools, Lighthouse).
- Manual keyboard navigation checks.
- Screen reader testing.
We will continue to monitor and test our website regularly.
