Creating a culture with ability at the core
We all have abilities, some exceed because of their ability whilst others struggle due to a disability. In our modern 21st century, this does not appear equitable. Rather than presume people with disabilities or mental health issues cannot participate fully in life or maintain employment – should we not assume that disability and mental health issues are a natural part of life – it can happen to anyone – at any time – and yes, they can participate fully in life (including holding down a job) when the right supports are in place.
Mary Finn has worked in the disability sector for 17 years in a variety of roles and understand the challenges posed to employers and employees when faced with the uncertainty of illness or injury.
Connect4Work supports organizations to create a culture of well-being, openness and inclusion for all employees by being proactive toward positive mental health, diversity and disability through planning the return to work of employees absent through illness, injury or other reasons in a safe and sustainable manner.
When the culture of a workplace is open and accepting of people with a diverse range of needs, abilities and who have positive contributions to make, it results in achieving a highly motivated staff, which leads to increased productivity which further promotes an inclusive culture and a positive corporate identity as a place where people want to work.
Connect4Work focusses on the positive outcome of a return to work
